2          large egg whites
2 1/2    cups sugar
1/2       cup water
1 1/2    cups fresh lemon juice
1          teaspoon grated lemon peel

Dissolve the sugar in the water over gentle heat, stirring constantly. When the sugar is dissolved, bring to a boil and boil for 1 - 2 minutes. Cool. Beat the egg whites till fluffy, but not dry.
