4          slices white bread
1/2       cucumber
1          tablespoon butter substitute
            salt and pepper

Spread thinly sliced white bread with butter or butter substitute. Peel and very thinly slice the cucumber. Arrange the cucumber slices on the buttered bread and season with salt and pepper. Place another slice of bread on top. Slice the crusts off into four even quarters. Arrange on a plate garnished with curled cucumber peel and serve with tea. This is a traditional English summer tea dish.
